This is a collection of the poems that Mary Cochrane wrote from 1991-1998 during the significant love affair of her life and the demise of her brother John, and from 2007-2010 as she endured her battle with cancer and subsequent ill-health. Mary has used her poetry as a means of enduring hardship and loneliness but also of expressing the beauty that she sees in life and the love that she feels for those closest to her. These poems explore the themes of love and loss, joy and sorrow and the possibility of transcendence. They convey the best and worst of the human condition and open up a gateway to an internal struggle with despair, the seductive power of death and the vivid depictions of other-worldly phenomena encountered in this rich landscape.
