The journeys and memories invoked are a lively, jostling bunch of ideas, emotions, impressions. The imagery of wells (Luminiţa Şerbănescu) reflects the authenticity and freshness of the writing, and the depths writers draw from. The collected pieces also gain strength from each other, with the power to provoke thought, despair, and delight. Keep an eye out for some unplanned motifs: railways, identity, discrimination, the rituals of death, and love. My only disappointment is that I cannot yet read Romanian.
