Key of Rays is a science fiction for health protection based on the concept of a monstrous antagonist and Sanitarian Igor, the Hero. It highlights the role of Sanitarian in the quest for sustainable development in the Health Sector. The Sanitarian, proves his mettle not only as a competent professional but also as a creative, resourceful and proactive officer who is ready to take up challenges no matter how daunting. More importantly, he distinguishes himself as a team player who realises the important role of other relevant professionals and is ready to work in synergy with them to achieve great goals. His strength of character and profound confidence stands him out at the highest echelon of the Government of the land and fetch him and his profession the recognition that otherwise could have been impossible. The early chapters present a kind of military war situation between the Monster, ANOPHELES T.1 and human forces comprising the Army, Police, Medical Corps and Scientists put together but without the Sanitarians. After enormous financial input there is yet no significant improvement in the fight against the Monster, leaving the President visibly worried. In spite of the frustration caused by repeated failures in the approaches adopted by various groups of experts, other groups are still ready to lure the Government into committing more financial resources into the fruitless search for an effective antidote against the Monster and its off-spring the ANOPHELES T.2. The Sanitarian presents himself but nobody listens to him.They totally rule out the Sanitarian as anybody who had a part to play in a situation such as eradication or control of a disease. As the situation deteriorates, the KEY OF RAYS, symbol of peace, might and health of the people disappears with the emergence of the mysterious beast at the coming of the Solar Eclipse, throwing the people into greater despair. With the situation becoming increasingly worse by the day, the President, decided to give the Sanitarian a chance. To prove his worth, the Sanitarian swings into action. It is not in the least easy but the Sanitarian remains focused. The middle chapters are devoted to the dogged fight of the Sanitarian to redeem his image and remain the force of choice to Mr. President and the nation; (The President's name, BOBASA HAYOIG is coined from the three major ethnic groups of Nigeria: Igbo (BO), Yoruba (BA), Hausa (SA) for the first name BOBASA; and Hausa (HA), Yoruba (YO) and Igbo (IG) for the last name). The rare courage and commitment of the Sanitarian is brought to the fore. His prudent deployment of funds released to him for the project is note-worthy. But what is most instructive here is the Sanitarian's uncanny foresight in developing not just the needed antidote for the AT2 invaders but also the MQ2 Anti-Monster Monster to battle the real Monster, ANOPHELES T.1. In the concluding chapters, the Sanitarian's sense of judgement is given prominence. Uninvited by the regular forces, he mobilises his unconventional arsenal and schemes his way into the scene of battle unnoticed, waiting for the right time to strike and that is when the battle is all but over and all hope lost by the same forces that had often despised him. Bewildered by the sudden appearance of Igor and his Sanitarian Forces and the turn of events in the battle field, the Field Commanders of the regular forces cannot but yield to the overall command and leadership of Igor, the Sanitarian General Officer Commanding (COG). Finally, the indomitable enemy is conquered and the ANOPHELES T.1 Monster taken captive as it is incapacitated in the fierce encounter with the MQ2 and the legendary Key of Rays is retrieved. Surprisingly, the major weapon in achieving this feat is the simple and much overlooked Environmental Sanitation.With their breeding places destroyed the mosquitoes are starved of food from which they derive the energy to carry out their nefarious activities of transmitting Malaria Disea
