Brother Bert, himself no slouch with the pen, does likewise. Alongside their vivid glimpses of life at the front is a carefully curated selection of letters from some of Geelong's other young volunteer soldiers, the whole revealing a compelling, moving, horrifying, and sometimes humorous story of the 'war to end all wars'.
