Mary is very raw and real in this book even when people told her that she was going to offend some readers with what her life had really been like and all the things she did on the way when her spirit was nearly broken. Later, with those ashes, Mary mixes them with paint and makes a painting with all different colors. She calls the paintings, "Beauty from Ashes."
