Breaking the Mental Chains of Black Teenagers is a collection of successful speeches used by Yaba Baker from 1996 to 2012 to inspire and motivate over 2,500 Black teenagers to strive to do better in life. Parents, teachers, and mentors, regardless of socioeconomic background, are encouraged to use this book as a way to open up those must-have conversations with the teenagers in their lives. The book begins with establishing a positive self-identity for any Black teenager by revealing astonishing proven historical facts. Scientific discoveries created by Black people include math (addition, subtraction, geometry, trigonometry, etc.), divisions of time (seconds, minutes, hours, etc.) and architecture like the Washington Monument (a copy of an ancient African monument). Black inventions from the golf tee to the refrigerator to the gas mask, with the original patent numbers, gives Black teenagers from all walks of life an increased sense of pride. The revelation that 8 out of 10 NFL players are broke 2 years after retirement always gets the young men's attention.
